Find the Jack Point

First, find the car's jack point. The jack points are strengthened areas on the undercarriage designed to take the weight of the car without damaging the decorative fascia or lower skirt. The point will usually be found about 6-10 inches from the wheel well. Look for a point on the edge of the car's frame where the plastic or fiberglass fascia has been cut away to reveal the steel frame. Many cars also have markings on the lower skirt to indicate where the jack point is.
