An Apology to My Twitter Followers

Hi folks. Here's the deal. When I began here at About, I started a Twitter account, @Wheel_Doctor. Later on I figured out that if I had been paying attention to About.com naming conventions, I should have called it @AboutTires, which would have made much more sense.

I am by no means a social media maven, but I soldiered on and have tried to keep up with tweeting on a semi-regular schedule, both to announce new articles and to indulge in a bit of the quirky side of the world. I haven't succeeded, of course. According to the Twitter Experts, I don't tweet often enough, I don't retweet other people often enough, and my mother, "dresses me funny."

Those Twitter Experts! Always with the jokes!

So I've been a moderately bad twitterer, and for that I apologize, although I think I've been getting better lately. Plus one other thing: It turns out that About has been getting ready to roll out official About.com Twitter and Facebook accounts for some time, and I received mine last week. The good part of this is that the accounts are now integrated with About's software such that when I post something, it will auto-post to Twitter and Facebook, thus making my job that much easier. The bad part is that I will need to be switching over to my new Twitter account and leaving my old account behind, and I must ask my followers to do the same and follow me on @AboutTires from now on. Sorry about that!

For now, I will be double-tweeting to both accounts for a while, but soon enough @Wheel_Doctor will be consigned to the junk heap of Twitter history. I hope you will all come along for this relocation, and that you'll like my Facebook page as well!
